Post 5: The Story of a Picture

I am not really good when i have to choose favorites things and i do not like it either, but for this occasion, i feel really enthusiastic with this picture. This was taken long ago, like 4 years ago, by a friend who also play poker that day. As it can be seen in the photo the main event of the night was this poker match, and spontaneously we try to make it feel like an underground one. Some of us was acting like a casino's characters and obviously there were bets, drinks and Johnny Cash songs. We was playing until next morning and, i have to say, there was i discover my fondness for gambling and some talent for that (as i wish to remember). This was a great moment for all of us and we could enjoy another gambling's nights after. And, finally, this was a pleasant memory with Sebastián who was a friend who sadly died 2 years ago.

Blog Post 6: How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

As i mentioned in a previous post, since last 4 years i've been studying Cine and Television and my opinion about it gradually change to be a negative one. Personally i think the mainstream film and tv productions are deeply aligned with ideology and from my point of view authorial and experimental films could have good intentions but many times doesn't care about his real impact in distribution terms, so in many times are production reserved to limited and specialized public, a segment in the big picture of market. This argument is particularly true to national film production sphere and there is a few written works about the topic. Now, i think there is some ways where my major can have a positive impact. For example, many contemporany cultural changes was been supported by film and television programs, maybe not in radical ways, but with a big impact. Anyway, now i am trying to make my way in cinemagoing studies and this option only was possible thanks this career.

Post 4: A Meal or Food You Really Like

One of my favorites meals without doubt are the “porotos con riendas”.   There is many ways to cook it but i always prefer the versión of my grandma even above my own. She cook the meal in a very simple way: First she wash and leave dunking the beans the night before and in next day start to boil it adding more water. Next, after testing the cooking of beans she will add the chopped potatoes and the slices of longaniza. Finally, pumpkin, spaghetti, oregano and a maggi tablet will be added betwen 10 and 15 minutes before serving the meal. Now, my way to do the same meal is very similar but i try to use more spices and red, green and yellow peppers because i like very much flavors seasoned. But, i have to say it, i never could cook this meal better than my grandma and avoid the annoying stomach side effects in the same time like she do it. Don't look so well but i believe this meal made by me was delicious

Post 3: My Favorite Piece of Technology

For me this is a simple question. Since elementary school (probably sixth grade) I think almost 1/6 of my life (which is a lot), I have been spending it behind a computer. Since there were no children in my neighborhood, my sister and I had to entertain ourselves mainly at home. And it was so boring because we couldn't have an absorbing hobby until the computer came to our house. Thanks to this device I was able to have access to cultural resources that I could not otherwise consume. So for me it is a fundamental tool for work, but also my source for music and movies, listening to it and watching it, reading college work books and playing video games with friends. I think the computer is the best device so far to do everything. the things I mentioned. It is safe, fast and powerful, and if it is true that mobility can be a problem for him, this problem is solved with notebooks. A photo from my first pc  right now dumped and forgotten

Post 2: Why did I choose my major?

As i mentioned in the last post, before of be studying Cine and Television i passed over another career. History to be concrete. In that way since i was a kid my thoughts about my future always considered a humanistic focus. I liked antropology and arqueology, for example, even i thought about paleontology or a medical profession. I choose History because it was my favorite class in school and in future i could continue my studies with pedagogy. Finaly, after History i thought maybe i should try another area of interest like cinematography. In the beginning i was really interested in the realization but now my focus are audience studies, particularly  cinema-going , in other words the experience of people in the past watching movies. I think this will be my final occupation because actually i am working in various projects.
